WELDED FABRICATION
Why Post-Weld Stress Relief Heat Treatment (PWHT) is Essential for Heavy Machine Frames
Technical guide on welding residual stresses, distortion prevention with furnace stress-relief annealing (PWHT), 40-tonne crane capacity, and EN ISO 3834-2 standards.

The Threat of Residual Stress in Welded Frames
Welding heavy steel plates creates severe temperature gradients between molten weld pools (1,400°C) and the base metal. This locks residual stresses inside the chassis. Machining a frame without post-weld heat treatment leads to catastrophic dimensional warping over time.
Furnace Stress Relief (PWHT) Protocol
At OSEL Makine, welded frames undergo thermal stress relief in controlled industrial furnaces heated to 580°C–620°C, held per thickness ratio, and cooled gradually to eliminate residual tension prior to precision CNC milling.
Supported by a 40-tonne overhead crane, EN ISO 3834-2 welding procedures, and SA 2.5 sandblasting with epoxy oven coating, our Dilovası plant delivers true turnkey heavy fabrication.
